GASTRONOMY
TAÍNO EXPERIENCE
Grand Sirenis Punta Cana Resort offers a unique programme for Saturday nights that allows our guests to discover the Taino culture and with which the whole family can enjoy a unique evening while on holiday in the Dominican Republic.
The Taíno were an indigenous people belonging to the group of the Arahuacos who came from the north of South America, specifically from the mouth of the Orinoco River. They were also the first inhabitants of the Caribbean before being colonized by Europeans.
At Grand Sirenis Punta Cana Resort we are proud to encourage activities in our natural environment and to look for new and innovative ways of preserving natural resources and the local community.
The Taíno Experience consists of a tour of our own Taino village where guests will learn about the Taino culture, one of the most unknown cultures of pre-Columbian America. During the tour you will discover the meaning of the different Taino idols, how they lived, how they farmed and fished as well as their diet.
After the tour, our guests will be able to taste a selection of typical Dominican dishes and a Taíno dance performance.
The Taíno Experience takes place every Saturday from 19:30 to 21:00*. The price is RD$2500 for adults. Free for children under 6. Children from 7 to 12 years old: the first child pays 50% of the adult rate and the rest go free**.
* Times may be altered without prior notice. To be certain, contact reception or the hotel concierge; we will be pleased to help you to plan all your activities.
